Boaters in Florida may find the anchoring laws get tighter in the very near future. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission closed a public survey on Dec. 7, 2014 examining proposed changes to anchoring.
The FWC is examining new restrictions that could force anchored boats to move 150 feet offshore, ban boats “in a condition of disrepair or poor maintenance” or require that permanently anchored boats be moved several miles every few weeks. That could have a major impact on liveaboard boaters who choose not to dock at a liveaboard marina (like Regatta Pointe Marina).
“Issues related to anchoring boats continue to be a challenge,” said Maj. Richard Moore of the FWC’s Boating and Waterways Section in a video placed on the FWC website.
“Boat owners, marina owners and owners of waterfront infrastructure constantly fear damage to their property when a thunderstorm blows through, because of the likelihood that boats anchored nearby may become adrift.”
The officer also cited complaints about popular water-skiing areas made unusable because of boats anchored there; “public nuisance” boats left to sink and become derelict; and boats anchored “for extended periods of time, a bit closer to waterfront residences than many people would agree is appropriate.”
According to Moore, there is no way to know when or in what form potential anchoring legislation could change.

We were so fortunate that my wife met Carrie at a Bridal show in Sarasota. In less than two month we did an entire wedding planning. We have received a true professional service. Amazing food, friendly and professional personal. The place itself was superb and had beautiful manatee river views. Everyone who attended our wedding reception said: – “WOW !!!”. It was a great experience for us and our guests. We can’t be any happier.
Thank you so much from our family !

Regatta Pointe Marina is very happy to be the preferred marina of Manatee County (Bradenton, Palmetto, Lakewood Ranch) boaters. In 2014, dozens of new boaters joined our vibrant boating community and thousands more were customers of our ship store and other marina businesses.
We’d like to wish all of our customers, friends and fellow boaters a VERY merry Christmas!
It’ll be another exciting Christmas at Regatta Pointe Marina. Here are some of the exciting events happening this holiday season:

CUSTOMER CHRISTMAS PARTY (Dec. 14): The party experts at the Riverhouse will host the Regatta Pointe Marina customer Christmas party in the Eagle’s Nest above the Riverhouse Reef & Grill. There’ll be a cash bar and heavy appetizers provided.

From the beginning, working with Carrie and the Manatee Riverhouse for our venue and catering vendor has been effortless. Every question answered quickly, every concern (and there were very few) addressed immediately, and Carrie was always available to show myself and my planner the venue and allow any needed accommodations. The catering is in-house through the downstairs restaurant (Riverhouse Reef and Grill). I was concerned at first that bundled catering wouldn’t allow for personalization or much room to choose; I was totally wrong! Everything was wonderful. Staff was efficient, quick, friendly, and funny (I had to hide off to the side before walking down the aisle, and the couple staff members back there helped calmed me down with jokes!).
I highly recommend this as a venue (beautiful waterfront location and views with a lovely dock and wooden balconies) and as a caterer (amazing food and great service). Carrie was wonderful to work with, and our event was perfect!

If you have noticed the increase in traffic on local waterways, it’s likely due to the recent increase in boat sales. Brokerage and owner-listed boats for sale at Regatta Pointe Marina have steadily grown over the last year as boaters continue to flock to the Bradenton and Palmetto region to purchase new vessels.
We found a very good article about boat sales in Florida written by the Orlando Sentinel recently. Report Caitlin Dineen wrote:
Riding the crest of an improving economy, boat sales are up in Central Florida and across the state, dealers and customers say.
“All of the scare of the economy is wearing off,” said Manny Messegeur of Winter Park, who recently bought a second boat. “People are realizing the United States is not doomed.” CLICK TO READ FULL ARTICLE
Boat shows will keep sales in this region high. The Tampa Boat Show just completed earlier this month, and the Tampa Bay Boat Show will start up in a couple of weeks. Between the two, Regatta Pointe Marina will host the largest in-water boat show at the Autumn Open House on Oct. 4 & 5. More than 50 in-water boats and yachts will be available for tours and information thanks to the efforts of Massey Yacht Sales, Whiteaker Yacht Sales, American Marine, and Shippey Marine. Come to Regatta Pointe Marina (Manatee River between Palmetto and Bradenton) for beautiful watery sunsets!
Millions of visitors each year come to this region to enjoy our great weather and beautiful sunsets. Most believe they have to drive all the way out to the beaches to see a water sunset. But Regatta Pointe Marina has a spectacular view over the Manatee River, where you’ll see some remarkable sunsets.
Our live aboard boating community gets to enjoy this beautiful setting each night. As do the diners who eat at either of Regatta Pointe Marina’s two onsite restaurants (Riverhouse Reef & Grill or Riverside Cafe) during the time of sunset.
So skip the beach traffic and watch the sun set from our beautiful docks.
is very likely the best location for a reception in the entire area. While reasonably priced to begin with (especially compared to country clubs or any other classy locations in the area), the night of the wedding showed us that it was worth every penny. The view was breathtaking as the sun was setting over the marina, the food was first rate, and the decorations provided by the Riverhouse made our lives so easy (all we had to do was make centerpieces–the enormous bay windows and strings of lights throughout the room were more than enough).
Of course, what really made us feel as though we’d struck reception gold was the event manager, Carrie. Simply put: she is fantastic. She helped us along the entire way, met with us multiple times, and made sure everything ran smoothly: from helping arrange a seating chart for more than a hundred people to providing last-minute table numbers and some much needed guidance for a couple of wedding rookies such as we were (we’d each only attended one wedding before and really had no idea what all was involved in planning one of these babies). On the night of the wedding, she clearly took charge and everyone within the wait and bar staff knew to go to her for questions (if there even were any), leaving us free to enjoy ourselves and talk to our many guests.
Overall, we could not have asked for a more perfect evening and we are so pleased to recommend this venue (and Carrie) to any couple, no matter the size of your budget.
