Regatta Pointe Marina’s Neighboorhod is Getting Makeover

Palmetto’s Old Main Street getting safer, friendlier

City leaders want to make Old Main Street, also known as 10th Avenue, safer and friendlier for everyone who visits the area. (Florida Department of Transportation)

PALMETTO – More improvements are coming to the city of Palmetto.

City leaders want to make Old Main Street, also known as 10th Avenue, safer and friendlier for everyone who visits the area.

So, they are preparing for a big makeover, which includes major changes for the long stretch of road from Riverside Drive to 17th Street.

City leaders want to make the road more user-friendly, so it’s easier to cross the street, walk to shops and bicycle around town.

“It will have a safer environment for people to come and visit this area and come to businesses on 10th,” said Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant.

Bryant said the Complete Street Project is a nationwide trend designed to make roads safer.

She said it’s being funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.

In addition to improving the streets and sidewalks, the project also includes landscaping, stormwater improvements and lighting, as well as reduced speed limits and improved parking.

Phase one of the project is expected to begin next year.

The remaining phases will not begin until 2021.

City leaders don’t want to make the changes on their own and are asking for the public’s help.

Two public meetings are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

The meetings will take place at Commission Chambers at City Hall, 516 8th Avenue West in Palmetto.

All in all: it was a hit – Manatee Riverhouse Waterfront Venue

The fine folks at David Cannon Well Drilling, Inc. recently hosted a 50-years of working celebration for Mack Tedder at our Manatee Riverhouse waterfront venue.  Here’s what they had to say afterward:

Thank you both Jessica and Kris for the wonderful time on Saturday night.

I hope everyone on your end was satisfied and I hope we did not cause any confusion or problems.

The food and drinks were excellent.  (my personal thank you to the bar keep…..I could never remember his name)

Everyone here enjoyed their selves.    A bit sore Sunday mornings from all the dancing.  Chad did a fantastic job with the music.

All in all: it was a hit.  We will keep your establishment in mind for other events.  I would love to have our Christmas Party there but it is scheduled for Dec 5th and way to close to turn corners now.

Anyway; thank you all for the great time.  Very professional and organized.
